Set your heart ablaze with the stunning visuals and fiery fight scenes.

Review

Once again, Ufotable shows why they're one of the best animation studios in the business.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was the most visually stunning movie I've seen in my life. The art style of Demon Slayer has always been picturesque, but when the 19th episode of the first season came out, animation standards were raised to astronomical standards. This, in turn, meant that the announced movie had expectations just as high and the animation studio, Ufotable, did not disappoint.

Throughout the movie, fans were treated with the iconic painting-like style of the moves used by the demon slayers, with the final fight scene showing yet another pinnacle combination of art, style, and music. Much hype was given to Rengoku, who reached the highest rank in his organization (Hashira), before the movie and he met all my expectations.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has shown the potential of how successful an anime movie can be if the story is canon to the original show it follows up on.

I score Demon Slayer: Mugen Train a perfect 10/10. The story was fluid filled with emotional highs and lows. The animation and art style was masterful.

Reception

Not only is Demon Slayer: Mugen Train the highest-grossing anime film of all time, but it was also the highest-grossing film of 2020 including non-animated films. It could be argued that many countries were in lockdown during that year due to COVID-19, which also delayed many films, including the scheduled Marvel Cinematic Universe films that always perform well in the box office, but the title is still held by Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

Currently, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is the top-grossing anime film worldwide at $505 million and it doesn't seem like it'll be overtaken anytime soon, with the second highest-grossing film being Spirited Away at more than $395 million, more than $100 million of a difference.
